Martin Contemplates

Probably my favourite piece. Drawn in Pipa, Rio Grande do Norte, during a quiet sunset. The ocean was rising and people were leaving the shore, but this man stayed seated, letting the water slowly reach him. The light was fading, everything calm and still. The canvas later became a gift for my dear friend Martin, who was contemplating his life deeply at the time. I don’t know if the moment was happy. But it was more than real and that felt enough. More than enough.
