Gringo Plays is my first collection in the making, a love letter to Brazil and the place where I found my way back to art. Brazil taught me play, not as something light or careless, but as something brave. A way of being that holds joy and hardship at the same time. Here, in Brazil (following Hungary, London, US) I learned to dance between chaos and care. I am a gringo brasileiro. I feel at home and my heart is full.
In this collection you’ll find people, fragments of daily life, and emotional landscapes shaped by this place. Brazil lives inside every line, bodies moving through heat, water, noise, and light. Through culture, memory, and presence, the work moves between joy, pain, and love.
The collection will consist of ten large paintings 100 cm x 100 cm. The first piece, Have a Good Life, was inspired by Alexandre, an Uber driver in Rio, a small moment of connection and gratefulness that set the tone for the series. In my dream world, Gringo Plays would be first exhibited in Brazil, in Recife or Rio, where the rhythm and energy behind these works belong.
